Stay Consistent with PostPilot - Your AI Social Media Copilot
Image Uploads
Upload images and let AI analyze them for intelligent product placement.
Overview
Images are at the heart of effective social media content. PostPilot makes it easy to upload high-quality images to your organization dashboard and transform them into engaging posts with the help of AI-powered analysis and intelligent product placement.
When you upload an image, PostPilot automatically analyzes its content using AI vision to identify objects, scenes, text, and brand elements. This analysis feeds directly into the copy generation pipeline, ensuring that the captions and hashtags produced are contextually relevant to the visual content.
PostPilot supports multiple image post types. Upload a single image for a standard feed post or story, or upload multiple images (2 to 10) to create a carousel post. The “Have your own creatives?” upload flow guides you through selecting your platform, post type, and uploading your media step by step.
Whether you are showcasing a new product, sharing behind-the-scenes moments, or building a cohesive brand aesthetic, the image upload workflow gives you full control while letting AI handle the heavy lifting of content optimization.
Uploading Images
Uploading images to PostPilot is straightforward. Use the “Have your own creatives?” button on your organization dashboard to start the guided upload flow.
Click “Have your own creatives?”
On your organization dashboard, click the “Have your own creatives?” button located below the stats cards. This opens the upload modal with a guided step-by-step flow. You can also scroll to the bottom of the page to find the inline upload section.
Select your platform
Choose the target platform for your post (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or TikTok). The available post types in the next step will adapt based on the selected platform.
Choose the post type
Select the media type for your post. For image uploads, the options include: Feed Post (single image), Carousel (multiple images), or Story (single vertical image). Each option displays a description and the expected image format.
Upload your images
For feed posts and stories, upload a single image. For carousels, upload 2 to 10 images — they appear in a preview grid where you can review them before submitting. PostPilot supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF formats. For stories, vertical 9:16 images are recommended for the best full-screen display.
AI generates your post
After uploading, PostPilot's AI analyzes the images and generates an optimized caption, hashtags, and creates the post automatically. The new post appears on your dashboard in pending status, ready for review.
For the best results, upload images with a resolution of at least 1080x1080 pixels. For stories, use 1080x1920 (9:16 ratio) for full-screen vertical display. Higher-resolution images give the AI more detail to work with and produce better-quality posts.
Carousel Uploads
Carousel posts let you share multiple images in a single swipeable post, perfect for product showcases, step-by-step tutorials, before-and-after comparisons, or visual storytelling. PostPilot makes creating carousels simple with its multi-image upload flow.
When you select the Carousel post type in the upload flow, the uploader switches to multi-image mode. You can select multiple files at once or add images one at a time. A minimum of 2 images is required, and you can include up to 10 slides per carousel. Your images appear in a preview grid showing the order they will display.
After uploading, the AI analyzes the first image to generate a cohesive caption for the entire carousel. Each image is uploaded and stored as a separate slide, and the post is created with the full carousel media attached. You can later reorder, add, or remove slides in the post editor.
Instagram carousels support up to 10 images. Research shows that carousels with 3 to 5 slides tend to get the highest engagement rates. Place your most eye-catching image first — it is the one users see in their feed.
AI Image Analysis
PostPilot uses Google Vision AI to perform deep analysis of every uploaded image. This analysis extracts rich metadata that powers the downstream content generation process, ensuring your posts are always relevant and on-brand.
The analysis pipeline identifies several categories of information from your images: object detection recognizes products, people, animals, and other elements; label detection assigns contextual tags such as "outdoor," "food," or "technology"; text detection reads any visible text or logos; and color analysis extracts the dominant color palette.
All of this information is passed to the copy generation agent, which uses it to craft captions that accurately describe and complement the visual content. For example, an image of a coffee cup on a wooden table might generate captions themed around morning routines, cozy aesthetics, or artisan coffee culture.
The AI analysis results are stored alongside your image and can be referenced at any time. If you regenerate captions for the same image, the analysis does not need to run again, saving time on subsequent edits.
Product Placement
PostPilot offers intelligent product placement powered by a hybrid AI and programmatic approach. When generating posts from your uploaded images, you can choose from four distinct placement styles that control how your product or brand is woven into the generated content.
Natural Integration
The product is mentioned organically within the caption as though it is a natural part of the conversation. This style works well for lifestyle brands and everyday products where a hard sell would feel out of place. The AI weaves the product mention into a broader narrative about the scene depicted in the image.
Lifestyle Context
The caption focuses on the lifestyle or experience associated with the product rather than the product itself. This approach is ideal for aspirational brands. The AI uses the image context to paint a picture of the experience and connects it back to the product as the enabler of that lifestyle.
Brand Showcase
The product takes center stage with direct, feature-focused messaging. Use this style for product launches, announcements, or when you want to highlight specific features or benefits. The caption is structured to draw attention and drive action.
Subtle Background
The product appears as a secondary element within a broader content theme. This style is effective for building brand awareness without being overtly promotional. The AI crafts content around the primary subject of the image while ensuring the product is still present in the viewer's consciousness.
Experiment with different placement styles for the same image to see which resonates best with your audience. You can generate multiple variations and A/B test them directly within PostPilot.
Best Practices
To get the most out of PostPilot's image upload and analysis features, follow these recommended practices for image quality, sizing, and content preparation.
Image Quality: Always use high-resolution, well-lit images. Blurry or low-contrast images reduce the accuracy of AI analysis and result in less relevant captions. If you are photographing products, ensure consistent lighting and a clean background to help the AI focus on the subject.
Image Sizing: Different post types have different optimal aspect ratios. Instagram feed posts favor 1:1 or 4:5, stories and reels should be 9:16 (1080x1920) for full-screen vertical display, and carousel slides work best at 1:1. Facebook works best with 1.91:1 for link posts and 1:1 for feed posts, and LinkedIn prefers 1.91:1 or 1:1. PostPilot will adapt your content for each platform, but starting with an appropriately sized image ensures the best visual presentation.
Content Variety: Upload a mix of image types including product shots, behind-the-scenes content, user-generated content, and lifestyle imagery. This diversity gives the AI more material to work with and helps maintain an engaging, varied social feed for your audience.
Avoid uploading images with excessive text overlays. The AI may misinterpret overlay text as part of the scene, which can lead to repetitive or inaccurate captions. If your image contains promotional text, consider using the Brand Showcase placement style for best results.
