Stay Consistent with PostPilot - Your AI Social Media Copilot
Video Uploads
Upload videos with AI-powered analysis and platform-specific caption generation.
Overview
Video content dominates social media engagement. PostPilot streamlines the entire video upload workflow, from file upload through AI-powered caption generation. Whether you are creating Instagram Reels, TikToks, or LinkedIn and Facebook video posts, PostPilot ensures your content is tailored for maximum impact on every platform.
The primary use case for video uploads is creating Instagram Reels. When you upload a video through the “Have your own creatives?” flow and select the Reel post type, PostPilot generates an optimized caption and hashtags, then publishes the video as a native Instagram Reel. Videos can also be uploaded for other platforms as standard video posts.
This guide walks you through the video upload process, from selecting your files to publishing platform-optimized Reels and video posts with AI-generated captions.
Uploading Videos
The video upload process is designed to be fast and intuitive. Use the “Have your own creatives?” upload flow to get your video content into PostPilot.
Open the upload flow
On your organization dashboard, click the “Have your own creatives?” button. Select your target platform (e.g., Instagram), then choose the Reel post type. This switches the uploader to video mode.
Upload your video file
Click the upload area or drag and drop your video file. PostPilot accepts MP4, MOV, and WebM formats up to 100 MB. The video is displayed in a 9:16 aspect ratio preview so you can verify the content before proceeding.
Submit and generate
Click the upload button to submit your video. PostPilot uploads the file to secure storage, generates an AI-powered caption and hashtags, and creates the Reel post automatically. The post appears on your dashboard in pending status.
For the fastest upload experience, compress your videos before uploading. Aim for H.264 encoding with a bitrate between 5-10 Mbps. Instagram Reels perform best at 15-60 seconds in 9:16 vertical format (1080x1920 resolution).
AI Caption Generation
After uploading your video, PostPilot's AI generates an optimized caption and hashtags tailored to the target platform. For Reels, the caption is crafted to be short, punchy, and engagement-focused with trending hashtags that boost discoverability.
The AI uses your organization's brand profile, industry context, and target audience information to produce a caption that feels authentic to your brand. The generated caption and hashtags appear on the post card, where you can edit them in the post editor before publishing.
Caption generation for video posts typically completes within a few seconds. The generated caption appears on the post card once processing finishes, and you can edit it freely in the post editor.
Platform-Specific Captions
One of PostPilot's most powerful features is the ability to generate captions tailored to the unique requirements and culture of each social platform. Rather than writing a single generic caption, the AI produces optimized versions for every connected account.
Instagram Reels: Short, punchy captions with trending hashtags and a strong call to action. The AI prioritizes engagement-driving language and emoji usage that aligns with Instagram's visual culture. Captions are kept concise since most Instagram users do not expand the full caption.
TikTok: Conversational, trend-aware captions that feel native to the platform. The AI references current TikTok trends and formats when relevant and includes platform-specific hashtags to boost discoverability. Captions are optimized for the shorter character limits on TikTok.
LinkedIn: Professional, value-driven captions that position the video as thought leadership or industry insight. The AI adopts a more formal tone, includes relevant industry hashtags, and structures the caption with line breaks for readability in the LinkedIn feed.
Facebook & Twitter: Facebook captions balance engagement with information, often including a question to drive comments. Twitter captions are crafted to fit within the character limit while maximizing impact, with strategic hashtag placement and concise messaging.
Music Suggestions
PostPilot analyzes the mood, tempo, and content of your video to suggest music and audio tracks that complement the visual experience. Music selection can dramatically impact engagement rates, especially on platforms like Instagram Reels and TikTok where audio is a core part of the content experience.
The suggestion engine considers several factors: the emotional tone detected in the video, the pacing and energy level of the visual content, current trending audio on each platform, and your brand's established audio identity if one has been set. Suggestions are ranked by relevance and include both trending tracks and evergreen options.
While PostPilot suggests music, the actual audio must be added through each platform's native tools due to licensing restrictions. The suggestions serve as a curated starting point so you can quickly find the right soundtrack without scrolling through endless audio libraries.
Trending audio can significantly boost your video's reach on TikTok and Instagram Reels. Pay attention to the "trending" badge on music suggestions and prioritize those tracks when timeliness matters for your content strategy.
Supported Formats
PostPilot supports the most common video formats used in content creation. Understanding the supported formats and their limitations helps you prepare your files for a smooth upload experience.
MP4 (H.264): The most widely supported format and the recommended choice for most uploads. MP4 files offer excellent compression with high quality and are compatible with all social platforms. Maximum file size is 100 MB.
MOV (QuickTime): Common output format from Apple devices and professional editing software. MOV files are fully supported but tend to be larger than equivalent MP4 files. Maximum file size is 100 MB. Consider converting to MP4 for faster uploads.
WebM (VP8/VP9): An open format that offers good compression and quality. WebM is well-suited for web-first content and is supported on most modern platforms. Maximum file size is 100 MB.
Videos exceeding 100 MB will be rejected during upload. For longer or higher-quality content, compress your video before uploading using H.264 encoding at 5-10 Mbps. Most social platforms favor shorter video content, with the sweet spot being 15-60 seconds for Reels and TikTok, and 1-3 minutes for LinkedIn and Facebook.
